Free Danish language education

Hellerup Language School is for anyone with an interest in learning Danish – or improving his or her skills. Courses are free, provided that:
• You are registered at the national registration office (Folkeregisteret) in the municipality where you live
• You have a Danish civil registration number (CPR)
• You are a foreign national

If you are under the age of 18, you will need approval from your local municipality to attend Hellerup Language School.

If you do not have a Danish residence permit or civil registration number, you will have to pay for tuition yourself. The cost is DKK 99.00 per lesson.

Getting started You need a referral to enrol in your Danish language course. Contact your local municipality or official employment office (Jobcenter).
 

Hellerup Language School accepts new students every week. We can offer you a Danish class in less than a month after receiving the referral from your municipality.

cross-border commuters

You may also qualify for free language instruction if you do not live in Denmark, but work or own a business in Denmark, and are a citizen of an EU country or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
